The Guandi Temple is located in the Zhenxi Pass of Xiezhou in Yuncheng City, Shanxi Province.
It is said that Changping Village, located 10 kilometers southeast of Xiezhou, is the hometown of Guan Yu, a famous general of the Shu State during the Three Kingdoms Period (220-280). Hence, the Guandi Temple is the ancestral temple of all the temples enshrining and to Guan. Built in 589 during the reign of Emperor Wendi of the Sui Dynasty (581-618), the Guandi Temple was burnt down in 1702 in the Qing Dynasty (1644-1911) and later went through 10 years of restorations.

3. Grinding Stone at Guan Yu Temple, Xuchang, Henan, China
This ancient grain grinding stone is on display. A rather ingenious design and for me it appears a somewhat difficult thing to carve out of a big stone.
4. Incense Burner at Guan Yu Temple
In front of the main temple we saw this elaborate incense burner. In front of it lies a pad for the people to kneel and pray.
5. Bell
Because of these virtues, Guan Yu has been elevated to a Shen (god) and there are even temples built in his name. In most Chinese temples a figure of the red-faced, bushy-bearded Guan Gong can be found.
This famous fighter was born in the late second century. The year and date of his birth cannot be confirmed because of the absence of conclusive evidence. However, it has been ascertained that he died in the early third century when he was in his late fifties. Worshippers celebrate his birthday on the 13th day of the fifth month of the lunar calendar.

Spring and Autumn Pavilion (also called Da Jie Pavilion) locates in the city center of Xuchang and in the Middle Duan of Wen Temple Qian Street. It became prosperous in Tang and Song Dynasties, and peaked in Ming and Qing Dynasties. Guan Yu was given a posthumous title of Zhuangchou Hou (Marquis of Zhuangchou). His son Guan Xing succeeded him. 8. This Mural Depicts the Events Described below
At the beginning, Cao Cao was pleased with Guan Yu but later began to realize of the latter's reluctance to stay on, thus ordered Zhang Liao, "Go and speak with him and probe about his feelings."
Thus, when Zhang Liao spoke with Guan Yu, the latter sighed and said, "I am in full knowledge of the honor and privilege Cao Cao had shown me, however, General Liu [Liu Bei] had treated me well also, hence I swear to die with him and I will never betray him.
I will not be staying here forever, but I will contribute a [sizeable] exploit first to repay Cao Cao's favor first before I take my leave." Zhang Liao related his words to Cao Cao, and the latter was impressed by his honorable attitude. Seeing Guan Yu had killed Yan Liang, Cao Cao knew that he would surely take his leave soon, hence further showered him with rewards.
Guan Yu did not accept any of the gifts and sealed all of them [a sign of rejection]; he also proceed with writing a letter to tender his resignation before leaving for Yuan Shao's land where Liu Bei was situated. Some of Cao Cao's subordinates wanted to chase after him but Cao Cao replied, "each for his own master; hence do not give chase".
