美国国歌
美国国歌为星条旗之歌（The Star-Spangled Banner）,但由于种种原因在中国现在经常被译作《星条旗永不落》.虽然这种译法使该曲与美国国家进行曲《星条旗永不落》（The Star and Stripes Forever）重名,并且与英文原意不符,但该译法的使用依然相当广泛.该曲由美国律师弗朗西斯·斯科特·基(Francis Scott Key)作词,美国作曲家约翰·斯塔福德·史密斯（John Stafford Smith）作曲.
历史背景：
巴尔的摩市东南的麦克亨利堡,建在一个小半岛上,是个平面成五角星状的要塞,扼进港要道.第二次美英战争期间作为前哨阵地抗击英军.1814年,英国舰队直扑麦克亨利堡,昼夜连续猛轰此堡.当时,有一位名叫弗朗西斯·斯科特·基的美国律师乘船到英舰交涉释放被扣留的美国平民.他目击了英军炮轰麦克亨利堡及美军英勇抵抗的惨烈场面,忧心如焚.1814年9月13日凌晨,弗朗西斯·斯科特·基透过炮火的硝烟,看到一面美国国旗仍然在城堡上迎风飘扬,他被这景像深深感动,随手在一封信的背后写下了几行诗.后来,他把诗稿送给法官尼科尔逊（Nicholson）,得到大力赞赏,并建议用一首当时非常流行的曲子John Stafford Smith作曲的“To Anacreon in Heaven”做为配曲,同时取歌名为“星条旗之歌”（The Star Spangled Banner）,这首歌深受美国人民的喜爱,很快就传遍全国.1931年,美国国会正式将《星条旗永不落》定为美利坚合众国的国歌.如今,巴尔的摩市的麦克亨利堡已被辟为国家纪念地和历史圣地.1985年11月7日,巴尔的摩市与中国福建省厦门市结为友好城市.

Their blood has washed out of of their foul footsteps' pollution.
No refuge could save the hireling and slave'
From the terror of flight and the gloom of the grave:
And the star-spangled banner in triumph doth wave
O'er the land of the free and the home of the brave.

Oh!thus be it ever,when freemen shall stand
Between their loved home and the war's desolation!
Blest with victory and peace,may the heav'n rescued land
Praise the Power that hath made and preserved us a nation.
Then conquer we must,when our cause it is just,
And this be our motto:"In God is our trust."
And the star-spangled banner in triumph shall wave

他们向往的是能在战争中幸存,
家乡和祖国,不要抛弃我们.
他们自己用血,洗清肮脏的脚印.
那些奴才、佣兵,没有地方藏身,
逃脱不了失败和死亡的命运.
但是星条旗却将要永远飘扬
在这自由国家,勇士的家乡.
IV.
玉碎还是瓦全,摆在我们面前,
自由人将奋起保卫国旗长招展.
祖国自有天相,胜利和平在望；
建国家,保家乡,感谢上帝的力量.
我们一定得胜,正义属于我方,
“我们信赖上帝,”此语永矢不忘.
